BLOCK71 Global
BLOCK71 is a global initiative by NUS Enterprise in collaboration with established corporates and government agencies. It is a technology-focused ecosystem builder and global connector which catalyzes and aggregates the start-up community. Since our first project in Singapore in 2011, we have since expanded into 5 more offices in USA, Indonesia, and China. Together as a global team, we inspire people with innovative ideas and technologies and provide mentorship and growth opportunities in local, regional, and global markets.
Launched in 2015, BLOCK71 San Francisco is a partnership between NUS Enterprise and Singtel Innov8, a wholly-owned subsidiary and venture capital fund of the Singtel Group. Located in South Park, SoMa, a dynamic start-up enclave with a rich history in producing some of the world's most successful start-ups, we are a bridge between Southeast Asia and Silicon Valley's start-up communities. Whether you are from Southeast Asia and are exploring business opportunities in the US, or a US-based team interested to partner with NUS' technologies, contact us!
Here's our origin story:
Back in 2011, Blk71 Ayer Rajah Crescent - one of Singapore's oldest industrial buildings built for the light manufacturing industry, was slated for demolition to make way for new developments. However, NUS Enterprise, together with Singtel Innov8 and then-Media Development Authority of Singapore, came together to repurpose the dilapidated building into a technology start-up hub. Through this project, Blk71 quickly transformed into a thriving and dense start-up hub, which went on to catalyze the growth of Singapore's technology scene. The project has since been expanded into 3 more buildings in the same area to house hundreds of start-ups, venture capitalists, incubators, and corporate accelerators.
BLOCK71 Singapore is now an anchor program and incubator within this technology enclave in the Ayer Rajah/one-north area, and we continue to spearhead new initiatives and community activities to inspire and support more entreprenuers in Singapore.
